My love for the ukulele began around 2009 in Brighton, when this nice little instrument was introduced to me by a Mancunian metal rock lover, David, then known as Bacon Barin, my former band mate.

During this time I have played the ukulele in various contexts: bedroom recording, in bands, serenading a girlfriend, gigs at venues, busking; in many different places (in both sides of the Atlantic). I have had the fortune to play with several talented friends, old and new.

Among these friends, the following, playing other instruments with me on half of this new album of cover versions, Songs on the Ukulele for Diogenes of Sinope:
Craig, in Glasgow, played the bass, the guitars, the keyboard and sang backing vocals;
Sandro and Mariana, in Sao Paulo, played the guitars and the keyboard respectively;
Jim, in Chicago, played the keyboard and the single bongo;
And Henrique, in London, played the bass, the harmonica and the drum machine.

SotUfDoS is a lofi album, recorded in my bedroom here in Bristol, an homage to some of the people whose influence made me change, learn and enjoy life.

I used to play these songs sitting on the pavement when I was busking, and seriously, the smiles on the people's faces made me happier than the coins (and occasional notes) I was rewarded with, which of course helped me a lot. I hope you smile too.

Meu amor pelo ukelele começou mais ou menos em 2009 em Brighton, quando esse pequeno instrumento bacana foi apresentado a mim pelo amante de rock metal mancuniano David, então conhecido como Bacon Barin, meu ex-companheiro de banda.

Durante estes últimos dez anos eu toquei o ukulele em vários contextos, como gravações de quarto, em bandas, serenatas para uma namorada, shows em pequenos locais, como artista de rua, em muitos lugares diferentes (em ambos os lados do Atlântico). Eu tive a sorte de tocar com muitas pessoas talentosas, vários amigos, antigos e novos.

Dentre eles os seguintes, tocando outros instrumentos comigo em metade deste meu lançamento, o álbum de versões Songs on the Ukulele for Diogenes of Sinope:
Craig em Glasgow tocou baixo, guitarras, teclado e cantou backing vocals;
Sandro e Mariana em São Paulo tocaram guitarras e teclado respectivamente;
Jim em Chicago tocou teclado e bongo solitário;
E Henrique em Londres tocou baixo, gaita e bateria eletrônica.

SotUfDoS é um álbum lofi, gravado no meu quarto aqui em Bristol, uma homenagem a algumas das pessoas cuja influência sobre mim me fez mudar, aprender e aproveitar a vida.

Eu costumava tocar essas músicas sentado na calçada quando estava fazendo busking, e, seriamente, os sorrisos nos rostos das pessoas me deixavam mais feliz do que as moedas e, às vezes, notas com as quais fui recompensado, o que naturalmente me ajudou muito. Eu espero que você também sorria.

Oh Diógenes, estou procurando um humano, eu também!
